GLASS SCULPTURE & LIGHT DISPLAYSRainer Hildenbrand, a wood & glass artist, was born in Germany & raised in Canada. His rural childhood, followed by years of living in the deep forests of the Canadian Rocky mountains, provided Rainer with a deep connection to the beauty and bounty of the earth. His appreciation & reverence for using natural materials is reflected in his art and craft work. A disabling accident as a teenager led him to decades of studying non-traditional healing and indigenous spiritual practices. A Canadian citizen, Hildenbrand's work is in private collections in the US and Canada. Hildenbrand and Gale own the All Matters Art Gallery in Burton, Ohio and present workshops throughout the US and Canada in creating ceremonial art and living one's life as a ceremony. Rainer Hildenbrand's glass vortex series is inspired by the energy fields that are known to exist at sacred earth power sites, (i.e. Sedona, AZ, Lily Dale, NY, West Mountain in Hot Springs, AK). Vortex like, this energy is typically described as spiraling out of, male, or into, female, the earth. Trees growing near these sites have trunks and branches that spiral in the same pattern as the vortex energy. Vortex energies of this kind is unseen by most human eyes. By using the earth element of glass, (primarily silica), Hildenbrand creates a 3-dimensional representation of vortex energy. As with most glass work, the light at a given moment inspires the piece with its own characteristics, and, as light is continually changing, so is the glass art. |
