In many indigenous cultures, masks are worn to represent Gods, Spirits, and Ancestors and are used in rituals to strengthen the tribe by warding off illness, misfortune, and/or evil spirits. Masks have long represented sacred spirits brought to life for the well-being of a community. Worldwide in drama and dance, masks are worn to enhance the story and to clarify the emotions being expressed. Always, masks intensify and heighten the experience, whatever the intention of the wearer of the mask is. As modern-day mask makers, Colin & Victoria co-create their masks for people to wear and celebrate the joy of life. Their masks beckon you, the wearer, to put aside the expected persona you wear daily. Their spirited creations have been worn at music festivals, family celebrations, and by wedding parties. Created of cloth, cord, fiber & beads, Colin & Victoria's masks call on the brightest part of the wearer to shine: the psychiatrist, once masked, becomes magician, the accountant a god, the nurse, a pixie, the bricklayer, a warrior. All their smiles widen, all their eyes brighten. These masks are not "event specific" and can be worn on more than one occasion. Wear one of their masks, & let the world see other sides of your own magic. These masks are designed on a one-size-fits-all adjustable internal wire frame, which is lined with felt for comfort.
